Listening to this amazing man speak to us so candidly, was a moment I will always take with me in my career. He reminded us of so many things: teach them different, but not less;
teach them to advocate for themselves;
students need to learn how THEY learn in order to be able to learn....so many valuable and heart felt "aha" moments. His struggles brought to the forefront a very important flag for all students with LD...that with those glasses, they can achieve anything. Thanks Joe for helping to further soften my eyes, and sharpen them to your struggles, and for our students with learning disabilities that I will help NOT fall through the cracks, or go unnoticed. That IEP and promise will hold up EVERYWHERE...even at night school if need be.
